Black Muslim Women: Representation in Digital Space

A panel on the topic of representation of Black Muslim Women and the use of digital space. Leading the discussion will be three Black Muslim women, Shahd Batal, Leah Vernon, and Eman Bare, who have used social media and the internet to build platforms and speak out on issues of representation. Digital culture has been used as a way to subvert the lack of representation in traditional media. The panelists will speak about their experiences and the importance of digital culture, especially for marginalized identities.
