Atul Butte is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine. He received his M.D from Brown University's School of Medicine (1995), his M.S. in Medical Informatics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2002, and his Ph. D. in Health Sciences and Technology from MIT and Harvard Medical School (2004). Most recently he has received the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Pediatric Research (2010).

Dr. Butte's lab's long-term research goal is to develop translational bioinformatics methods to reason over many available genome-scale measurement and experimental modalities, and apply these methods to study complex disorders in genomic medicine, especially obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
