Professor Carolyn Springer is the Rosina Pierotti Professor in Italian Literature, Professor and Director od the Department of French and Italian, and the Chair of Graduate Studies in Italian at Stanford University. She received her B.A. from Wesleyan University's College of Letters, and went on to receive her M.A. and Ph.D in Italian Language and Literature from Yale University.
She has received fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities / American Academy in Rome, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Harvard Center for Italian Renaissance Studies / Villa I Tatti, the Ford Foundation, and the Fulbright Foundation. Her research has focused primarily on Renaissance and nineteenth-century literature and cultural history; lyric poetry; gender studies; Renaissance visual culture; and history of landscape.
