Cheryl Koopman

Cheryl Koopman is a Professor (Research) of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science in the School of Medicine. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1972, and her M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1974. She went on to receive her Ph.D in both Program Evaluation and Educational Pscyhology from the University of Virginia in 1979. She first joined Stanford in 1998, as a Charter Member with the Stanford Research Management Advisory Group.

Chreyl Koopman's research focuses on psychosocial reactions to political trauma, serious illness, and other stressful life events and the evaluation of intervention programs to help people cope with such events, as well as studies designed to inform the design of psychosocial interventions for improving physical and mental health.
