Fiona Lee
Graduate Dissertation Fellow 2017-18, Psychology
Graduate Voice & Influence Program Fellow 2017-2018

Fiona Lee is a sixth year PhD student in social psychology. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology and economics at Cornell University before she came to Stanford. She is a Graduate Dissertation Fellow at Clayman for 2017-2018. Fiona's research focuses on psychological barriers women face in a professional achievement domain. She is interested in identifying such barriers, understanding the process, and developing an intervention that can be implemented by organizations. In her dissertation, she examines the gender difference in how much one wants to be prepared before applying for jobs. She found that women have a greater need for preparedness compared to men in various job contexts, and that conveying an organizational value on learning can reduce such need, effectively closing the gender difference.
