Gail Wight
Assistant Professor, Department of Art and Art History

Gail Wight is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Art History, in the School of Humanities and Sciences, as well as the Director of Graduate Studies in Studio Art, and Experimental Media Arts. Prior to her time at Stanford, Professor Wight received her B.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art, and her M.F.A from the San Francisco Art Institute. She has received numerous awards and honors, the latest of which include the Hoagland Award for Innovations in Teaching, from Stanford University.

Professor Wight investigates issues of biology and the history of science and technology. Her work engages the cultural impact of scientific practice, and plays with our constant redefinition of self through our epistemologies.  Recent projects often involve other living organisms, inviting them to become co-authors in the finished work of art.
