JoAnne Wehner is a Researcher at the Clayman Institute. She spent over four years working as an evaluation researcher at the Center for Workforce Development at the University of Washington, working with NCWIT a non-profit committed to improving women’s representation in Computer Science.
JoAnne has a Ph.D. and MA in Sociology with a certificate in Socio-legal studies from the University of Washington. Her B.A. in Sociology is from the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on the ways in which public laws and private policies shape individuals’ lives. Her work has explored such diverse issues as the effects of the Family Medical Leave Act on individuals’ perceptions of employer responsibility for work-family conflict, how organizations integrate work-family policies into their daily operations, and the individual and social determinants of public support for expanded wilderness preservation.
