Justine Tinkler
Assistant Professor of Sociology, University of Georgia

Justine Tinkler is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Georgia. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Stanford University in 2007.  Her research employs experimental, survey-based, and qualitative research methods to examine the micro-level processes that create barriers for reducing gender and racial inequality.

Dr. Tinkler’s past research has examined resistance to the enforcement of sexual harassment policies on college campuses. More recently, her research has explored how college-age men and women negotiate the moral boundaries of nonconsensual sexual contact in public drinking settings. She has just begun collecting data on two new projects that extend this prior research to study how men and women react to campus sexual assault policies that require affirmative consent. She will discuss these different streams of research as they inform the national conversation about affirmative consent.
