Karen Jusko
Assistant Professor in Department of Political Science, School of Humanities & Sciences

Karen Jusko is an assistant professor of political science at Stanford University, and a faculty affiliate of Stanford's Europe Center and the Center for the Study of Poverty and Inequality. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2008, and has been an Assistant Professor at Stanford University since 2007.

Jusko's research is motivated by questions about the origins of contemporary democratic politics in the U.S., and in Europe, and has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the European Science Foundation, and the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences at Stanford. Her current research is geared toward her upcoming book, "The Political Representation of the Poor", and focuses on questions such as, "How do electoral rules affect the poor? When do parties have an incentive to seek the support of the low-income citizens?".
