Keith N. Humphreys

Keith Humphreys is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Medicine, and the Acting Director for the VA Center for Health Care Evaluation. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1988, and went on to receive his A.M in  Clinical/Community Psychology  and Ph.D in  Psychology  from the University of Illinois (1991 and 1993, respectively). His honors and awards include the Public Health Book of the Year Award from the British Medical Association (2010).

Dr. Humphreys research focuses on interventions for substance abuse and psychiatric disorders, and particularly on evaluating the outcomes of professionally-administered treatments and peer-operated self-help groups (e.g., Alcoholics Anonymous), developing health services research-related applications for innovative qualitative and quantitative research techniques, and analyzing national mental health policy.
