Laraine Zappert

Laraine T. Zappert is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University's School of Medicine.  During her years at Stanford,  she has served as the Director of the Ph.D. program in Clinical Nueroscience in Woman's Health, Founder and Director of Stanford's Sexual Harassment Policy Office, and Founder and Director of the Women in Science, Engineering and Medicine  (WISE) group program and Women in Social Science and Humanities (WISSH) group program in the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education at Stanford. Dr. Zappert was also the Director of Clinical Training  for Counseling and Psychological Services at Stanford's Student Health Center.  

Dr. Zappert's research focuses on women health issues, specifically the intersection of gender, work and mental health. She is the author of numerous articles and research reports, and her book, Getting it Right, is a well-received study of the professional and personal challenges of 3 generations of women who graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her current research involves examining the efficacy of the WISE /WISSH group programs on the well-being of female graduate students.  She is also involved in a research collaboration with the Work/Life Office on work, stress and parenting.
