Miriam Zoila Pérez

Miriam Zoila Pérez has been working in the reproductive justice movement for over seven years, both online and off, including more than four years working with the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH). She works as a consultant for NLIRH and other social justice non-profits. She is the founder of Radical Doula, a blog that covers the intersections of birth activism and social justice from a doula’s perspective. You might also know her from her work at Feministing.com, where she is an Editor. Her writing has appeared in Bitch Magazine, The Nation, RH Reality Check, Alternet, The American Prospect and she is a frequent contributor to Colorlines.com. Most recently Pérez’s work has been published in two edited editions: “Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World without Rape” and “Sinister Wisdom: Latina Lesbians." She has received various awards and recognitions for her work, including a 2009 Young Woman of Achievement Award from the Women’s Information Network and a 2010 Barbara Seaman Award for Activism in Women’s Health from the National Women’s Health Network.  She is a frequent speaker nationwide and has spoken at over 60 colleges and universities on topics related to reproductive justice and feminism.
