Nora Nieminski
Geological Sciences
Graduate Voice & Influence Program Fellow 2016-2017

Nora Nieminski is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Geological and Environmental Sciences. She completed a B.S. in Environmental Geoscience and B.A. in French at the University of Utah.

Nora’s current research focuses on ancient sedimentary systems and their relation to regional tectonics. In particular, she studies the paleotransport of sediment into ancient deep ocean environments that are now preserved in the rock record. She conducts fieldwork in both Namibia and New Zealand where she combines field measurements with geochronological and geochemical data to interpret the small-scale process of individual flows that deposited these rocks and their implications on past geographic configuration of ocean basins throughout Earth’s history.
