Persis S. Drell
Professor of Particle Physics and Astrophysics and of Physics

Persis S. Drell is currently a professor and the director of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Laboratory.  She has served in positions of increasing responsibility with SLAC since 2002 and was named as the laboratory's fourth director in December 2007. She is widely credited with having made SLAC one of the leading laboratories under the stewardship of the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science. She has recently submitted a resgination for this position in order to return to the university's faculty. 

Persis received her A.B. in Math/Physics from Wellesley College in 1977, and her Ph. D. in Physics from the University of California Berkeley in 1983. Her research interests are around Particle Astrophysics studies of weak and strong interactions at e+e- colliders.
