Renee A. Reijo Pera

Renee A. Reijo Pera is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Institute for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University. She is also the Director of Basic and Translational Research in Women's Health@Stanford. She received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Wisconsin, and then went on to received her Ph.D in Molecular Cell Biology from Cornell University. 

Professor Pera first came to Stanford in 2007, and has received numerous awards, the latest of which is the Founder's Award from the Australian Society for Reproductive Biology (2010). Her lab focuses on  three inter-related areas of research: 1) Understanding early decisions in human development, 2) examining genetic and epigenetic requirements for formation of the germ cells that give rise to each generation, and 3) understanding the basis for sporadic diseases such as Parkinson's Disease that may be linked to complex genetic and/or epigenetic and developmental errors.
