Research Funds

Each fellowship is worth up to $7,500. Two fellowships will be supported by the Iris F. Litt, M.D. Fund and are intended primarily for faculty in the medical and biological life sciences. Stanford Faculty Research Fellowship funds must be applied to research-related activities; and the research must have a clear gender component. The award is not intended to cover Summer Quarter salary or to fund capital equipment purchases. Stanford faculty are not eligible if they have won a fellowship or other Clayman Institute awards within the last three years. The funds may be applied to a range of research-related activities, including:

    • research travel
    • research assistant salary
    • student intern
    • professional training (e.g., software, statistical methods)
    • buying out a course
    • seed money for a pilot project
    • travel to a conference
    • bringing a collaborator to Stanford
    • costs of staging or creating an art work
    • buying data analysis services
    • support of research-related website

Fellows are asked to provide a thank you letter to their particular Endowment funders at the end of the year on how their funds were spent. Any research supported by the Faculty Research Fellowship program of the Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University shall acknowledge that fact in its published version.
