Aliya Hamid Rao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics. She received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania. Rao's research focuses on gender inequalities in the institutions of work and family. She has been published in leading peer reviewed journals such as Gender & Society, Journal of Marriage and Family, Sociological Methods and Research and Work, Employment and Society. Her research has been covered by media outlets such as the New York Times, the Financial Times, Huffington Post, and BBC.
