The Entrepreneurs - Screening and Panel Discussion of the New Camfed Film

In Zambia, in partnership with Goldman Sachs and the University of Cambridge, Camfed launched the 10,000 Women Program in Young Women's Leadership and Enterprise in 2008. A documentary film team led by Helen Cotton and Academy Award-winner Ross Kaufmann chronicled this innovative program, the first of its kind in Zambia. Their uplifting documentary The Entrepreneurs profiles young women participants Florence, Esnart, Ng'andwe and Precious as they embark on five months of intensive training. Like all the young women in the course, they come from backgrounds of extreme rural poverty, and many suffered from the loss of one or both of their parents. But with courage and determination these young women defy the odds and establish their own successful businesses. From a furniture store to a pre-school for vulnerable children, The Entrepreneurs prove that anything is possible.

Panelists for the discussion include Joel Samoff, Professor of African Studies and Political Science at Stanford, and Kimberley Sevcik, Information & Media Relations Manager at Camfed.
