Pamela S. Karlan: "Election Law and Gender"

Oxford University Press (OUP) will be publishing the Oxford Handbook of American Election Law at the end of 2023 or beginning of 2024. The book will have roughly 40 chapters. Professor Karlan will write a chapter about gender issues. The chapter will discuss the history of women's suffrage as well as developments under the Nineteenth Amendment, the intersection of race and gender, and some contemporary issues focusing on female officeholding and the gender gap.

Pamela S. Karlan is Kenneth and Harle Montgomery Professor of Public Interest Law and Co-Director of the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic.
