Marianna Zhang

Marianna Zhang is a PhD candidate in psychology, focusing on developmental psychology. She is interested in how children learn about social categories, including gender and race, in the context of social structures and language. She has studied children's reasoning about the effects of social structures on group outcomes, how children learn implicit gender stereotypes from everyday speech and media, and strategies in conversations with children about racial inequality. Before coming to Stanford, she studied psychology and philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago.
