Cynthia Russell is Executive Director of The Goodnow Fund, a foundation supporting human service, education, and environmental organizations. In addition to her work at the Fund, Cynthia is Principal of CrossSector Partners, a management consulting firm providing fund development and business planning services to nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining The Goodnow Fund, Cynthia held leadership positions in the nonprofit sector and served as Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Planning Department, President and CEO of Connecticut Housing Investment Fund, and Interim Executive Director for the International Institute of Connecticut. She is a co-founder of the Clayman Institute for Gender Research and from 1974 to 1976 served as the Institute’s first Administrator. Cynthia is a frequent speaker on nonprofit management and philanthropy and developed Norwalk Community College’s first Nonprofit Management Certificate Program where she taught several courses and workshops on board development, fundraising, and nonprofit operations. In addition to serving on the Clayman Institute Advisory Council, Cynthia serves on the Advisory Board for All Our Kin, a nonprofit organization building and supporting family child care facilities in Connecticut and New York.
