Sumita became passionate about gender studies while raising a daughter with a keen interest in technology. She is an active member of the Stanford Parents’ Club, where she is the co-chair of the Family Weekend Extravaganza and is also involved in other activities on the Stanford campus. Over the years, Sumita has also volunteered in various leadership roles in her children’s schools and the Palo Alto Hills Club, including co-chairing the Youth and Social Committees. Earlier, she retired from Hewlett Packard, where she served as a Senior Financial Analyst for several years. Sumita did her Masters in Economics in India and her MBA at Santa Clara University. Sumita lives in Los Altos with her husband and daughter, and her son attends Stanford (class of 2021).
